Maurice Hermans

Maurice Hermans (1974) is een interdisciplinair kunstenaar, opgeleid als musicus en sociaal werker. Tussen 2011 en 2018 werkte hij voor NEIMED, een onderzoekscentrum voor urbane krimp. Hermans debuteerde in 2016 met De Antistad (nai010), waarna hij publiceerde over thema’s als Degrowth, Randland, stedelijke krimp. Hij is oprichter van familiebedrijf Betawerk, waarmee hij diverse ontwerpprijzen wint, en van klankkunst collectief AUW (Altered Unidentified Waveforms). In 2022 verschijnt van zijn hand Patchwork IBA Parkstad, het eindboek van de 12e editie van de Internationale Bau Ausstellung en in 2024 debuteert hij als fotograaf met het boek O O OO AA (Onontkoombaar). Hij is directeur bij Intro in Situ, werkplaats voor nieuwe muziek en klankkunst en werkt momenteel aan een vervolg op De Antistad. Zijn werk is te bekijken op www.mauricehermans.nl.
